Working with Pigeon Pose

Working with Pigeon Pose

Here we are working with the front leg position from pigeon pose. In the full pose, the back leg would be stretched out straight back. By working with half the pose only, the strain and effort is reduced to allow the focus to stay on the front hip.

Pigeon highlights hip flexibility. The leg is in extreme external rotation. Can your hip flexors let go? Can the femur rest comfortably in the hip joint? Do we need to free up something in the leg to allow it to rotate fully?
